Executive Committee

EMA is administered by an Executive Committee of between 5 and 12 members, who are representatives of the member organisations.  One of those members is elected as President of the Association. The Executive Committee meets twice a year.

Committee members are appointed at and by the annual Assembly, to which all member organisations are invited. The terms of a Committee member is three years.

+ Lawrence Mizzi, an economics graduate joined Air Malta in 1974. In 1979 he was appointed as Personal Assistant to the Chairman during Air Malta’s early years and has since led the development of new business initiatives and the formation of various subsidiary companies.
+ He held various senior posts including those of Group Head Human Resources & Administration, and Company Secretary to Air Malta’s subsidiary companies. Also served as a member of the Airport Security Committee.
+ In 1997, Lawrence was elected on Council of the Malta Employers’ Association, was later appointed to the Officer’s Group responsible for EU and International Affairs and appointed Deputy President in 2002. He regularly represents the Malta Employers Association at various international fora including the ILO and EU institutions. Since August 2005, he has served as a member on the National Employment Authority.
+ Since April 2006, Lawrence has occupied the post of Consultant with MEA and serves as Advisor to the MEA President
+ Since 1999, Lawrence has served as a Council member of the Malta Institute of Management, served as the Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Vice-President and, since 2006, has occupied the post of Hon. President. Lawrence is also a Director of Nucleus, an IT training associated company in Malta.

+ Bettina Götzenberger, a German native by parents, was born in Barcelona in 1953
+ She is a Commercial Bank Expert and German official translator, and she got her law degree in the Law School of University of Barcelona, in 1984, and a postgraduate degree in International Commercial Law, in 1990
+ She is fluent in German, Spanish, English, French and Catalan
+ Specialised in international private law, commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, real estate law, she started her professional career as a lawyer, in 1985, and she has been a managing partner in a law firm with offices in Germany and Spain
+ In 2003, she founded IDEANDUM Legal & Investment Services, a law firm specialising in international advertising, specially in the german-spanish legal traffic, in coordination of projects and investments, and in shareholders’ representation in General Assemblies and Boards of Directors (www.ideandum.com). Actually, she is running the firm as a managing partner
+ In 2005, she started as an entrepreneur with an ambitious project, LO MAS LEGAL the legal shop, a company which promotes legal shops, an innovative concept in legal advisory services in Spain (www.lomaslegal.com). She is the founder and the General Manager
+ Bettina Götzenberger has been representing interests of German companies in Spain, and of Spanish companies in Germany, France, United Kingdom, USA and China, and a presenter to many International Conferences. She has also been publishing, on real estate matters and corporate law, along with other professionals (lawyers and economists) + By now, she is Vice-President of the European Management Association, representing CEDE (Spanish Confederation of Managers and Executives www.directivoscede.com), where she is a member of the Board and the Chair of the Committee for International Relationship. She is a Vice-President of AED (Spanish Managers Association www.aed96.es), and a Member of the International Planning Committee of the Global Summit of Women (USA, www.globewomen.com) + Her daughter (Miriam, 25) and her son (Christian, 20) are still living with her

  Stefanie Bechert
  RKW
+ Stefanie Bechert is Head of the International Department of RKW – Rationalisierungs- und Innovationzentrum der Deutschen Wirtschaft eV
+ As such, Stefanie is responsible for developing and implementing international projects within RKW. She is also responsible for seminars to German companies on European integration. She has held this post since 1999.
+ Between 2001 and 2004 she acted as a Trainer within Wetzlar Chamber of Commerce, delivering training on foreign trade and European integration.
+ From 1995 to 1999 she was Project Director in the Federation of German Industries, co- ordinating and organising high level conferences and CEO business meetings.
+ Stefanie has a degree in Sinology and Political Sciences from the University of Hamburg. Between 1998 and 1990 she studied at the University of Nanjing in the People’s Republic of China.

Andrew Tank,
Executive Director
European Research, Communications and the Middle East
+ Andrew Tank is responsible for The Conference Board’s research and communications in Europe and for its activities in the Middle East
+ This includes on-going research projects in the fields of productivity, corporate governance and organizational effectiveness
+ Recent research he has directed includes The Business Case for Diversity: Good practices in the workplace and Women in Leadership: a European business imperative
+ He is the author of a number of business books including “Building Flexible Companies”, “The BI 50: Case Studies in Management Success” and “Making Alliances Work”
+ Previously, he served as the European management editor of the Economist Intelligence Unit, South & East Asia correspondent for “Automotive News” and with International Voluntary Service in Bangladesh
+ He serves as President of the Cambridge Society of Belgium and on the executive board of the European Management Association
+ He holds a degree in Economics and Social Sciences from Cambridge University

  Itzhak Chen
+ Itzhak Chen is Executive Manager of the Israel Management Center, the largest management training center in Israel. He has held that post since 2000
+ His previous career was in the Israeli Defence Forces, where he held the following posts:
- Division Commander
- Director of Doctrine and Development of the Israeli Army - designed long term strategic plans to build a ground force authority of the Israeli Defense Forces. Managed and developed battlefield research methods
- Director of the Commanding army Institute - commanded the army college; taught and trained officers in the Israel Defense Forces
- Attache and Director of the Israeli Ministry of Defense in the United Kingdom and Ireland
- Brigadier General
+ Itzhak holds a BA in Psychology and Education from Bar Ilan University, and a Masters Degree in Educational Management from the University of Tel-Aviv

  Dr Peter M Rudhart
+ Dr Rudhart is the long-time German member of the Executive Committee of the European Management Association (EMA), which he previously led as its President from 2001-2004
+ The German member of EMA is RKW, the major German Competence Center for Innovation, Productivity Improvement and Management Training/Consulting for small and medium sized companies (SMEs)
+ Dr Rudhart serves on RKW’s Advisory Council and he also chairs the Advisory Panel for RKW's international activities in the field of "Europe & Globalisation"
+ Dr Rudhart holds an MBA from Berlin Technical University and a PhD in Strategic Planning from Giessen University, where he worked as Associate Professor
+ He has subsequently built his professional career with German-based international companies (Kloeckner & Co., Deutz AG, Verseidag AG and Thyssen Schachtbau GmbH), working for many years abroad – mainly in North America
+ After having retired in 2004 as President & CEO of Thyssen Schachtbau he continues to make his experience available by serving on the boards of international industrial companies (AGCO/FENDT) and multinational cultural institutions, and as a Senior Advisor to the German International Investment Council (IIC) in Berlin
+ With his American wife Leah he lives in Hauset/Belgium and in Atlanta/USA
